On Tuesday, April 14th, 2020, the Brookings Police Department received a report of a vandalism that occurred in the 300 block of 20th Street South. Sometime between Friday, April 10th and Tuesday, April 14th, 2020, unknown suspect(s) entered a building under construction and intentionally caused over $10,000 in damage to the building.
On Tuesday, March 17th, 2020, the pictured male entered a store in the 2400 block of 6th Street and stole tools valued over $500. An employee saw the male get into the passenger's side of the pictured gray truck with JR Auto dealer plates.

On Tuesday, March 10th, 2020, the Brookings County Sheriff's Department took a report of a burglary from the County Highway shop in Bruce, SD.
Sometime between Monday March 9th, 2020, and Tuesday, March 10th, 2020, an unknown suspect forced entry through a door causing damage. It was found a 10 drawer tool box, wrenches, a pry bar set, and other hand tools were taken. It is estimated the total loss is approximately $5,300.

On Monday January 13th, 2020, at approximately 4:32 PM the Brookings Police Department received a report of an assault that occurred at the intersection of 7th Avenue and 8th Street. At approximately 4:15 PM, a 9 year old boy was walking home and crossed paths with two unknown individuals who were walking west from the 700 block of 8th Street. The boy was pushed down into a snowbank and struck in the back of the head with a beer bottle. The two suspects fled the area and the boy was able to run home safely after receiving minor injuries.
The suspects were described as being approximately 5’7” tall with a slender build. They were wearing black hooded sweatshirts with the hoodies pulled over their faces and cinched tight. Due to the hoodies covering their faces, the victim was unable to see the gender or race of the suspects but it is believed they could be college aged males.

**UPDATE**
On Monday, December 23rd, 2019 a female from White reported her wallet stolen from her purse. The theft is believed to have occurred in the Brookings area.
At approximately 1440hrs two African American males attempted to use the credit cards from the wallet. Suspect 1 was able to complete the transaction for over $1,000. Suspect 2 attempted to purchase over $1,000 worth of merchandise but the transaction was denied with two separate cards from the wallet.
Both suspects arrived and left together in a white car. However we are unable to get a good description of the vehicle.

On Tuesday, February 6th, 2019, the Brookings Police Department took a report of a burglary that occurred at several storage units located in the 1400 block of Western Avenue in Brookings. Suspect(s) gained entry to the storage units and a trailer by cutting the padlocks. The suspect(s) stole the top toolbox from a Snap-On 40th Anniversary Corvette toolbox. It is believed the storage units were entered sometime between January 20th, 2019 and January 26th, 2019. (Pictured is a similar toolbox, the top toolbox is the only one reported missing)
